Frequently Asked Questions

All sales are final. Exchanges or store credit will be considered within 7 days for unopened bottles, in good condition, and accompanied by a receipt.  Back vintage wines (8 years or older) are not eligible for return or exchange. Credit will cover the cost of the bottle and applicable taxes only.  Note, a 15% restocking fee will be deducted from the credit amount.  All other fees (including shipping) will not be reimbursed.

Once an order has left our store, we cannot accommodate cancellations or changes.  If the order has not yet shipped, cancellations within 7 days of purchase are permitted and will be subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Orders that have already left the store cannot be changed or cancelled. If you need to make changes to an order that has not yet shipped and is within 7 days of purchase, please contact us immediately and we will do our best to accommodate your request.  Changes after 7 days of purchase are not permitted.

As a courtesy, we hold orders for weather-related, shipping, and consolidation purposes.  These orders are packed and transferred to our temperature-controlled storage facility and are considered final.  They are not eligible to be changed or cancelled.

Petrullo Wine Company offers complimentary storage for 90 days in our temperature-controlled storage facility.  Due to our limited space, we are unable to offer long-term storage to our clients.  Should you need extended storage time and service, we are happy to recommend, introduce, and facilitate the transfer of your wine to a professional wine storage facility.  $50 per month will be charged should you exceed our stated complimentary period.

We do not offer partial shipments of orders.  If you have multiple shipping destinations, please enter the orders separately.
We cannot accommodate partial shipping requests for orders being held in our temperature-controlled storage facility.

A restocking fee is applied when there is a significant logistical or loss of revenue cost to the store to credit, change, or cancel an order.

We ship Monday – Friday unless otherwise noted.

Orders will be processed within 24 – 48 hours, Monday – Friday.  Please contact us if you need your order expedited.  We will do our best.  Shipping cutoffs (Monday – Friday): Ground – 2:30pm, Express – 11:30am.

Yes, we offer express shipping methods at checkout.  Select which option you would like, and the fee will be calculated for you.  It is important to note that all orders are processed within 24 – 48 hours, Monday – Friday, during operating business hours.  If you need your order shipped before then, you will need to contact us.

Yes, ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED for all shipments. An adult 21 years or older will need to be present to sign for the package.

Unfortunately, we cannot reroute a package once it has shipped.  Addresses for orders requiring an adult signature are unable to be altered during transit.  If you will not be at the shipping address listed on the order or are unable to have an adult present to sign, we strongly encourage you to have it held at the carrier’s location for pick up.

We copy shipping addresses directly from orders.  If an order has not shipped yet, please call us to make the correction as soon as possible.  If the order has shipped, we are unable to change it.  If the package is returned to us, we can reship it to the correct address at your expense.  Note, return shipment fees will also apply.

Hopefully this never happens, as we take great care in packing for shipment.  We ship on behalf of our clients through a third party and are not responsible for their mishandling.  Shipping insurance is offered at checkout to cover such issues. Should your order get damaged during transit please contact us immediately and we will determine a plan to rectify the situation.

The default at checkout on the ordering page is to insure your order with the 3rd party shipper (standard is 1% of the cost of the wine/spirit).  Should you choose to decline insurance, your order will not be covered.  By unchecking, and therefore declining insurance, you are agreeing to accept responsibility for your wine in transit and therefore may not use damage during transit as an argument to dispute a credit card payment charge.

We strongly advise against shipping during extreme (hot or cold) temperatures and offer complimentary storage for 90 days to avoid having to.  We will ship only at the request of the client but recommend using expedited shipping methods to prevent extended periods in transit.  We do not accept responsibility for any weather-related damage to the order once it leaves our facility.

Absolutely! If there is a special wine, vintage, region, etc. that you’re looking for, our team will do our best to source it for you.  Whether it’s ordering from a distributor, importing from Europe, or enlisting our network of private collectors, we make great efforts to get you the wine you’re looking for.  Orders must be paid for in full upon ordering, and all sales are final.  Should any issue arise with delivery (damage or failure to arrive), you will be refunded in full.  Note, wines coming from Europe tend to take 8 – 10 weeks.

If you detect that your wine is flawed, contact us immediately by phone or email.  We will assess the situation on a case-by-case basis, which may include the need for you to return the wine in question.

Any requests that exceed 30 days from the purchase date or do not have the wine accompanying it will not be considered. Store credit will be given for requests that are approved.

We take the utmost care to inspect all bottles sold in our store and ensure that they have been properly stored.  Any condition issue, should there be one, will be communicated fully prior to the completion of the sale. We do not guarantee against natural aging for any back vintage wine.

Unfortunately, wine flaws such as 2,4,6-Trichloroanisole (aka TCA or cork taint), Brettanomyces and Volatile Acidity cannot be detected when inspecting a bottle, and therefore cannot be guaranteed against. (Not so fun fact: 3% - 5% of all corks are contaminated by TCA, which is formed when certain bacteria in tree bark comes into contact with particular chemicals used to treat the cork.)

While inconvenient, a crumbly cork is not necessarily a sign that the wine is damaged.  We encourage you to examine the wine (color, clarity, nose, taste) and try to determine if there is a flaw.  Please contact us immediately if you suspect that the wine is flawed.  Do Not Discard The Wine.  You will need to return it to us for inspection to establish if it is eligible for store credit.

Please note, a request without the return of the wine will not be considered.

Back vintage simply means an older vintage or library selection.

We are so sorry about that!  It certainly was not our intention, but mistakes do happen from time to time.  We will do everything we can to make it right, starting by getting the correct bottle to you as soon as possible.  We will also send you a shipping label or pick up the incorrect bottle for return.  Thanks for understanding.

Discovering your palate is a journey, and everyone’s experience is different.  Likes and dislikes are subjective and can change from day to day.  Knowing what you don’t like is almost as important as knowing what you do.  We do not offer a refund of any kind for disliking a product, though we will certainly use this knowledge to help steer you in the right direction next time.  Please try to remember exactly what was off-putting so we can find something else that will please you.

We have wonderful relationships with distributors, importers, winemakers, and collectors thanks to Kristie’s extensive career as a Sommelier.  We utilize those resources to source our selection.  Alternatively, we scour the cellars of Europe for those harder to find wines and spirits.

Unfortunately, fraud is rampant among online retail orders.  We are a small company without a cushion to withstand any fraudulent activity.  If you are a new client, we reserve the right to check your credentials to verify you as a user.  This may require a phone call, zoom, or facetime to view your ID and credit card used.  Once you are verified, it is highly unlikely that we will need to do so again.  Thanks for your patience and business.  We look forward to developing a long and successful relationship with you.

Absolutely!  Just fill out the “gift note” section and we’ll make sure to include it.

Of course. We are happy to accommodate any gifting requests.  If the wine is in stock, we will be able to ship within 3 business days.  Please reach out at least one week in advance for large requests.

Yes, we do.  Make sure to request this option at checkout.  Fees apply.

Yes, we do.  In 2018, the US Supreme Court ruled in the Wayfair vs South Dakota lawsuit that retailers must collect sales tax on all e-commerce orders.  Since the title on all wines sold by Petrullo Wine Company passes to the buyer at the time of purchase, we charge NY State sales tax on all orders.

Unfortunately, picking up your order is not possible.  Please email contact@petrullowinecompany.com for further inquiries.
